Helen Tran awarded a Canada Research Chair

Professor Helen Tran is one of forty-two U of T faculty members who have been awarded Canada Research Chairs in support of their research

Awarded by the Government of Canada, Canada Research Chair positions are designed to reinforce academic research and training excellence with a view to improving depth of knowledge and quality of life, strengthening Canada’s international competitiveness and helping to train the next generation of highly skilled people. 

“I am humbled to be the CRC in Polymer Chemistry. This recognition motivates me to experiment with bold ideas, helps me attract top highly qualified personnel, and enables me to showcase our group’s research at the international stage,” said Prof. Tran. "Receiving this award before tenure, I believe this support will be essential for my career.” 

Dr. Tran was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry with a cross-appointment to the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry in January 2021. She recently became the inaugural recipient of the Acceleration Consortium’s Caregiver Grant.
