John Ford is the recipient of this year's Outstanding Staff Award in the Department of Chemistry. Ford has been a member of the department for many years, and this year, in addition to all that he would normally be responsible for in managing mechatronic services, he has been instrumental to the success of research operations and the departmental response to COVID-19. This is the second time he has received this award.
University Professor Mark Lautens is the recipient of this year's Chair’s Teaching Award. Lautens is being recognized for both his longstanding excellence as an instructor and graduate student mentor, and for innovations in the courses CHM440H and CHM151Y. In CHM440 for example, his use of a final oral examination model for undergraduates has enjoyed much success, and is now being adopted elsewhere in North America.
